Why Oregon should be #1...

What I want to know is how the top team from one of the weakest conferences is ranked #1!?! That's right Ohio State. They haven't played any great teams and we all saw how overrated they were last year. I might have them in my top ten but not in my top five. I'm really hesitant with South Florida and Boston College. I think they will both prove overrated and will show that in the coming weeks.

Out of the 1 loss teams however. I would say that Oregon is probably the most valid of any of the teams. Incredible offense and a solid defense, if they take care of the ball they will be tough to beat. They are probably the best team from arguably the best conference, and I would take them over any of the top five teams in the rankings now, yes, including LSU. We all saw what a good Kentucky offense did to the Tigers mighty defense. Oregon is #1 in my poll and will prove it against the Trojans a week from Saturday.

Oh and seriously!!! Oregon as #1??? Are you insane? What on earth possessed you to write this blog? Pure insanity? Seriously, Oregon DOES NOT deserve #1 ranking! Maybe top five, but no where near #1!!!

Lee Corso put them at #4 on his top 5 , and Kirk Herbstreit ranked them #2 in his top 5 behind Ohio State. I believe Oregon could beat Ohio State. If it wasn't for a freak fumble in the Cal game, the Ducks would probably be undefeated and ranked #1 in the polls. Oregon #1 with what's happened this season is totally plausible.

oh, imagine that...an oregon fan ranks oregon as the #1 team. take away all objectivity and look at the statistics, albeit man made stats.
oregon has played 1 ranked opponent all season and, guess where their 1 loss came from...their only ranked opponent. cal at home, (granted the loss was on a bad luck fluke play.) still a loss. their biggest win came was at michigan, which looks good on paper, but michigan had lost their national champ bid their 1st game of the season. oregon does look impressive, but it's hard to make a #1 bcs claim when you lose to your only ranked opponent at home.
the best one loss team has to be...HAS to be LSU. as much as i hate the tigers, you can't deny it. they have beat 3 ranked teams, 2 of them were top 10 at the time. their only loss was at kentucky, also ranked. plus, they have played one more game then oregon. has to count for something. i hate LSU, but thats how it is.
with ohis state at #1. they had the highest preseason ranking of any of the remaining undefeateds. as flawed and as stupid as preseason rankings go, thats the bed we've made, and now we have to lie in it. ohio st will be #1 until they lose. so sad.
for those who care about rankings, 4 pac 10 schools in the top 25, 7 in sec. just lookin at numbers... which is the best conference?

ps: Lee Corso is a BCS media tool. the only sports analyst with worse credibility is lou holtz, who would probably still argue that notre dame should be in the top ten...
